Murals
From the mid 1980's through the mid-1990's I produced murals for various commercial establishments and a few private residences. I was living in a large loft in the South Street Seaport in New York City and was able to produce them there.
I faced out a cement wall with plywood which gave me a twelve foot high by twenty foot wide work area where I could hang large canvases. In some instances, when a project required a width greater than my wall, I would extend the plywood wall into the kitchen.
When completed, I would roll the piece onto tubes carpets came on and ship them out for install. There was a small carpet shop on the lower east side where they would hold a few tubes for me. I'd pick them up as needed and carry them home (about two miles).
One day, when I was walking my tubes home, I got harrassed by a homeless guy who thought I was scavenging on his territory.
All said, it was a lot of fun.
